It has a hardened striking face in the neck and can therefore be used as a sledge or in combination with a splitting wedge. Comes with an edge cover in leather. The head is attached to the handle using both a wooden and a steel wedge to secure fastening. NOTE! Only sledge axes can withstand use as a sledgehammer.
